Amo progettare il legno anche quando mi fa traballare - I love to design wood even when it makes me shake

ITA - Alcuni di voi forse sanno che diversi anni prima di aprire il concept store "Oxtam", disegnavo e realizzavo mobili "su misura". (Io spero di poter definire il mio lavoro qualcosa in più di semplici mobili su misura, ma preferisco che siano gli altri a dirlo)

Non è stato facile per tanti motivi e il primo tra tutti è stata la mancanza di sostegno da parte di chi me lo aspettavo. Poi c'è stata la diffidenza perché sono giovane e donna. Poi la diffidenza perché non avevo le persone "giuste" a presentare il mio lavoro.

Ma alla fine io oggi faccio ciò che amo, i sogni si possono avverare, la via non è mai semplice, si deve iniziare dal basso e salire la scala... E anche allora il tutto può essere un po' traballante, ma lottare ne vale la pena.

ENG - Some of you may know that several years before the opening of my concept store "Oxtam", I drew and made "bespoke" furniture. (I hope I can define my work something more than simple custom furniture, but I prefer to let others define it)

It was not easy for so many reasons and the first of all was the lack of support from those who I expected. Then there was the distrust as a young women. Then the distrust because I was not introduced by the "right" person.

By the way, now I do what I love, dreams can come true, there is no easy way, you have to start at the bottom and clim the ladder... And even then it can be a bit shaky, but fight is worth it.

Il colore dell'anno 2017 - The color of the year 2017

ITA - Devo ammetterlo. Amo le pareti dipinte con un colore profondo, scuro e stravagante. Da questa premessa e dall'annuncio di Benjamin Moore per "Shadow" come colore dell'anno immagino che sarò presto ispirata dalle vibrazioni stravaganti e misteriose di blu, neri, magenta scuri e ametista. Tutte le sfumature più scure dei materiali preziosi. Un esempio perfetto è il divano di Bloomingville nella foto che potete ordinare in negozio.

Nel 2017 il trend saranno i colori lussuosi e ricchi abbinati con velluti, trapunte, strati e tante piante verdi. Anche se in effetti le piante si abbinano ad ogni decoro e stile.

Ad ogni modo io sono pronta per qualche proposta da farvi in negozio "Oxtam" e forse questo vi stupisce perchè lo stile dei miei mobili, per la maggior parte in legno e ferro, sembra impossibile da abbinare alla moda del 2017... ma non è impossibile!!!

Anzi, è solo una sfida molto interessante. Volete qualche anticipazione? Ecco qualche spunto preso dal web.

ENG - I have to tell you... I love painting walls deep, dark and moody. From this premise and with Benjamin Moore's announcement of "Shadow" as the color of the year, I can immagine myself inspired by the moody and mysterious vibes of blues, blacks, deep magentas and amethyst very soon. All the darkest shades of beautiful jewel tones. A perfect example is the Bloomingville's couch in the picture at the top that we have.

In 2017 luxurious and rich colors will be trending combined with velvets, tufted pieces, layers and lots of greenery. Even if actualy plants go with any decor and any style.

Anyway I am  prepared for some ideas for you at the store "Oxtam" and perhaps this will wonder you a bit because the style of my furniture, mostly made of wood and iron, seems impossible to combine with the 2017's trend... but it's not impossibile!!!

Un cigno in legno per sostenere il tuo I-pad - A wooden swan to support your I-pad

 

ITA -  Per chi segue il mio negozio sui social (principalmente Instagram e Facebook ) non è una novità: ci sono lavori che mi divertono davvero tanto, o meglio, ci sono clienti che mi permettono di essere creativa e questo è ciò che più mi rende felice.

E tra le mie recentissime clienti c'è una Signora con tre meravigliosi nipoti che ogni anno insegna loro a realizzare decori per il Natale. Dopo anni in cui si è cimentata in mille esperimenti è arrivata da me ed insieme abbiamo pensato a delle cose pratiche e divertenti per bambini come un trenino fatto con le cassette in legno e un alberello in legno massiccio da decorare con le tempere per ogni commensale alla tavolata natalizia.

La cosa che mi ha divertità maggiormente però è arrivata dopo ed è stata la ricerca e la realizzazione di un regalo che la Signora vuole donare alla nuora. Come sempre la ricerca condotta in collaborazione con la cliente è partita dallo scoprire lo stile di vita, le passioni e il gusto personale di chi riceverà il regalo. E, vi racconto velocemente, il risultato è un porta I-pad a forma di cigno.

Io sono una persona che divora libri, ma non ho ancora fatto il grande salto con gli e-book, mentre la nuora ama leggere in modo tecnologico. Però, vi dirò che il risultato di questo piccolo progetto mi ha divertita così tanto che forse farò un tentativo serio di approccio alla lettura virtuale.

ENG - For those who follow my concept store on social (mainly Instagram and Facebook) there's not any new: I enjoy so much some of my work, or actualy, there are clients who allow me to be creative and this is what makes me happy the most.And recently I've got a clients who is a lady with three wonderful grandchildren and annually she helps them to make handmade decorations for Christmas. After many years she has tried a thousand experiments, this year she came to me and together we thought about something practical and fun for kids as a toy-train made with wooden boxes and a little wood tree to decorate with paints for each person at the Christmas' table.The thing that amused me the most, however, came later and it was to research and to realization a gift that the Lady wants to give her daughter in law. As always, the research conducted in collaboration with the customer started from discovering the lifestyle, the passions and the personal taste of the woman that will receive the gift. And, I quickly tell, the result is a wooden supporter for an I-pad in the shape of a swan.I am a person who really loves reading books, but I have not made the step with the e-books yet, while the daughter loves to read with her "device". But, I have to tell you that the result of this small project has amused me so much that maybe I will make a serious attempt to read with this virtual approach.

Cuscini per la salute in pino cembro - Pillows for health in pinus cembra

 

ITA - Avete mai sentito parlare di pino cembro? o cirmolo? Forse questo nome non vi suggerisce alcuna idea  in particolare, ma credo di darvi un grande indizio parlandovi delle meravigliose stube del trentino. Ecco, il legno in cui vengono realizzate la maggior parte di esse è il pino cembro. Dal colore chiaro e tanti nodi.

Il cirmolo è un legno molto pregiato per le sue caratteristiche e per la difficile reperibilità. Questa conifera cresce ad altezze superiori rispetto a tutte le altre e non esistono vere e proprie pinete, ma solo singoli esemplari che svettano tra i muschi e i licheni. Il suo legname è un prodotto eccezionale per la salute ed il profumo è molto buono. Tra i suoi difetti devo dirvi che è abbastanza delicato e non è tra i più belli. Purtroppo!

Ma ad ogni modo il comfort delle stube in legno di cirmolo dato proprio dagli oli essenziali è leggendario, e da diversi anni non ci sono solo gli amici tornati da una vacanza dal nord a raccontare la sensazione di benessere che si sperimenta... Arrivano da centri di ricerca come il Joanneum Research le prove scientifiche di come questo legno riduca il ritmo cardiaco, rilassi, favorisca il sonno e la sua qualità. 

Merito di questi effetti dimostrati il pino cembro si è guadagnato una buona nomea come abbinamento naturale alle cure allopatiche tradizionali e sperimentali ed è consigliato da molti cardiologi.

 

Io vi invito a prestare attenzione alla certificazione dei prodotti sul mercato. Per riconoscere questo legno non basta sentire un buon profumo perché esistono altre essenze lignee profumate, senza proprietà benefiche paragonabili e con un costo inferiore di molto.

Presso il negozio "Oxtam" a Bergamo ogni prodotto viene rilasciato con il timbro del rivenditore di legname che può dimostrare la tracciabilità del prodotto.

In negozio potete trovare cuscini decorativi con imbottitura al 100% di legno, guanciali con l'aggiunta del 15% di lana affinché restino più soffici e oggetti in legno massiccio intagliati in molte forme diverse.

I cuscini sono realizzati con la misura ideale di piccoli trucioli che non devono essere troppo grandi perché renderebbero il cuscino scomodo e pungente, e non devono essere troppo piccoli perché il peso della testa li renderebbe ben presto troppo compatti e duri.

The timber in which the most of them are made is this pinus. The color is light and it has many knots.This pine is a very fine wood for its characteristics and because it is hard to find. This conifer grows to greater heights than any other and there are no real pinewoods, but only single examples that stand out among the mosses and lichens. Its timber is an exceptional product for health and also the scent is very good. Unfortunately I have to tell you that this wood  is quite delicate and is not among the most beautiful.
But nevermind because the comfort that pinus cembra's essential oils, in a Alpes' parlor, give is legendary, and since years we are not only told by friends returned from a Holiday. ITA - Se leggete questo blog siete sicuramente delle persone creative  e ci sono delle buone probabilità che lo siano anche i vostri figli. Per i bambini la creativa è meravigliosa, ma porta anche tanto scompiglio nelle case e quindi bisogna organizzarsi. 

I materiali come le matite colorate, la colla e i glitter sono cose che vorremmo fuori dal raggio visivo, ma non fuori dalla portata di mano. Per questo, ci sono delle soluzioni carine come un contenitore a ripiani con tanti cubi vuoti che voi potete riempire con dei cassetti in tessuto o delle ceste facili da estrarre e riposizionare.
Allo store "Oxtam" vi possiamo anche proporre una versione a forma di casina che io trovo adorabile, soprattutto per una femminuccia.
ENG - If you read this blog you surely are creative people and there're good chances that even your children are. The creativity for children is wonderful, but it brings a lot off mess in the house too, so you need to get organized.
Materials as colored pencils, glue and glitters are things that should remain out of sight, but not out reach. So, there are lovely solutions as a storage cubby with organizers like fabric drawers that make evereything easy to place in and pull out. You can make those drawers by yourselves or you can buy suitable baskets.
 

 

ITA - Un'idea divertente è trasformare un elemento di ricovero in un elemento espositivo come una mensola dalla doppia funzione. Infatti al di sopra della mensola si possono posizionare pennelli, colori e carte, mentre nella parte sotto c'è una barra magnetica dove potete appendere i disegni dei vostri bambini con delle calamite. Il risultato sarà di un piccolo atelier.

ENG - A good idea is to transform a shelter element in a display element such as a bar double-duty display shelf. Above you can place brushes, colors and papers, while at the bottom you can apply a magnetic bar to hang children's drawings with magnets. The result will be a small atelier.

 

ITA - Tra le soluzioni possibili per sviluppare la creatività dei bambini c'è un vero e proprio tavolo da lavoro. Un mobile con i cassetti pronti per essere attrezzati con tutto ciò che serve: scatole di pastelli, scotch, nastri etc e a lato un rotolo di carta da cui si può srotolare ogni volta un foglio per disegnare e colorare.

ENG - Among the solutions to develop children's creativity there's a real work table. A furniture with drawers ready to be equipped with everything needed: boxes of crayons, scotch, ribbons etc and beside a roll of paper from which you can roll out a piece to draw and color.
 

ITA - E se avete un futuro artista in casa non potete fargli mancare un cavalletto. Ogni piccolo artista  non può resiste dal liberare la sua fervida immaginazione davanti ad una lavagna pulita. Potete anche optare per il dipingere una parete della sua cameretta con un prodotto che trasforma l'intonaco in una lavagna. Non è nulla di complicato, vi basta solo comprare un barattolo di pittura speciale e recuperare il rullo da pittura che avete lasciato in qualche scatolone nel ripostiglio.

ENG - And if you have a future artist in your house, you can't help him but get a tripod. Every little artist can not resist from let his imagination fly in front of a clean blackboard. An other suggestion is to paint a wall of his room with a product that turns your plaster in a blackboard. It's nothing complicated, you just need to buy a jar of a specific painting and recover a paint roller you maybe have left in a boxe in the closet.
 

 

ITA - Ormai è chiaro che ho dedicato questo articolo ai piccoli di casa, ma ho pensato anche ai genitori che, dopo il divertimento, corrono ai ripari con spugne e solventi. Il mio consiglio più semplice è di procurarsi un tappeto per proteggere il pavimento da graffi, cadute e colori. Ma non compratene uno qualsiasi, c'è un piccolo trucco. Innanzitutto scegliete un tappeto apposta per le camerette dei bambini perché sono meno costosi, ma soprattutto optate per la fantasia giusta. Se ne scegliete una come quella in fotografia avrete delle buone probabilità che gli schizzi di colore lo trasformino in un vero capolavoro piuttosto che in un arredo rovinato. 

ENG - By now it's clear that I have dedicated this article to children, but I thought about the parents too that, after the fun fase, have to tidy everything up with sponges and solvents. My simple advice is to get a rug to protect the floor from scratches and colors. But not anyone because there is a little dodge . First choose a rug for children's bedrooms whitch is cheaper, but most important opt for a smat fantasy. If you choose somthing like the one in the photograph you will have a good chance to turn it into a masterpice, with the splashes of color, rather than in a ruined home decor.

 

ITA - E l'ultimo consiglio lo lascio per il momento di relax dopo tante energie consumate nel creare, magari per un intero fine settimana (lo so, lo so... alcuni bimbi sembrano essere inarrestabili...). Prima o poi arriva il momento di mettersi comodi e contemplare il lavoro fatto. E, secondo me, non c'è niente di meglio che sdraiarsi in un sacchetto come quello della foto e godersi il meritato riposo.

ENG - And I leave the last tip for the relaxing moment after spending so much energy in creativity, perhaps for a whole weekend (I know, I know... some children seem to be unstoppable...) Sooner or later it comes time to get comfortable and contemplate the work done. And, in my opinion, there is nothing better than to lie down in a bag like the one in the photo and enjoy a well earned rest.

Inspirazione londinese - London design inspiration

ITA - Londra è da sempre una delle capitali di riferimento per il mondo del design e se tutte le altre città hanno sviluppato elementi affini tra loro, la capitale britannica ha mantenuto un'identità forte e distaccata.

Negli ultimi tempi è stata la neon-art al centro dell'attenzione nel panorama e, sebbene sia diffusa in tutto il mondo, è sulla piazza londinese che ha riscosso un successo davvero grande.

Per quelli tra voi che hanno avuto occasione di fermarsi tra i bar di Shoreditch non è affatto una novità, ma per quelli che apprezzano questo genere di arredo i costi, purtroppo, possono diventare una questione rilevante. E' difficile trovare delle lampade di neon-art di buona qualità, belle e ad un prezzo contenuto.

Ma potete stare tranquilli perché io ho fatto una ricerca approfondita per voi ed ecco cinque lampade che possono rendere le vostre case uniche e adatte al portafogli di tutti.

ENG - London has always been a capital for the world of design and if the other big cities have developed some similar elements, the British city has maintained a strong and detached identity.
In recent times the neon-art has been at the center of the design scene and, although it's widespread through the intire world, it's in the London design square that it had such a huge success.

ITA -  La casa fa parte di noi. Vive con noi. Cresce. Si evolve. Ci segue attraverso ogni piccolo passo, cambiamento ed evoluzione.

Ecco perché sono fermamente convinta che il lavoro di un arredatore non sia mai completo, non sia mai realmente ultimato.

I luoghi del nostro vivere infondo sono come specchi e, in qualche modo, sono anch'essi vivi.

Questo è il motivo che mi spinge ad entrare in sintonia con un cliente, capire la direzione in cui sta volgendo la sua vita e progettare delle soluzioni che possano aiutarlo a soddisfare le nuove esigenze. Ogni singolo passo affrontato insieme e con attenzione.

La parte più difficile di questo lavoro probabilmente non è avere delle buone competenze tecniche o buon gusto, ma saper ascoltare e cogliere i reali bisogni delle persone per poterle aiutare a ritrovare sé stessi negli spazi progettati.

La parte più stimolante di questo lavoro è trovare un dettaglio che sia affine solo ad un cliente. L'unicità di un prodotto che sia il riflesso dell'unicità della persona.

Oggi, nelle tre immagini in alto, ho messo il work in progress di una stanza per gli ospiti. La proprietaria di questo alloggio ha rivoluzionato alcuni aspetti della sua vita e, grazie alla tecnologia, ora svolge il suo lavoro da casa. Insieme abbiamo trasformato quella stanza degli ospiti nel suo nuovo ufficio.

Insieme abbiamo abbinato alcuni arredi che possedeva ad altri elementi di design (ovviamente scandinavian design) e abbiamo aggiunto una panca realizzata, nel laboratorio ExPECTATION BY ARIANNA MORA, su misura con una tavola di legno massiccio e una semplice struttura in ferro  .

Today, in the three images at the top, I show the work in progress of a guest room. The owner of this place has changed some aspects of her life and, thanks to technology, now she carries out her work from home. Together we have transformed the guest room in a new office.Together we have combined some furniture she already owned with other design elements (of course scandinavian design) and added a bespoke bench made, in the laboratory Expectation BY ARIANNA MORA, with a solid wood table and a simple iron structure.You like it?

L'incubo del regalo di Natale al collega - The nightmare of a Christmas present to your colleague.

ITA - Io sono tra quelle persone che ama fare i regali, ma del tipo inaspettato, magari senza un motivo reale o una circostanza da festeggiare. Amo fare regali quando mi va e perché mi va. 

Ho qualche difficoltà con i regali convenzionali e, non fraintendetemi, do molto valore al Natale e al significato che un "dono" porta con sé, ma negli ultimi anni ho sviluppato una piccolissima riluttanza a certi regali natalizi.

Perché nella lista dei regali non ci sono mai solo le persone importanti, vero?! Ci sono sempre quelle tre o quattro persone che conosci e a cui "devi" fare un regalo.

Il collega con cui prendi il caffè ogni mattina alla macchinetta. La vicina di pianerottolo che quando vai in vacanza ti innaffia le piante. Oppure l'amica dell'amica sposata con tuo cugino che ti invita ogni anno per ritrovarsi in montagna etc...

Ogni dicembre mi ritrovo a pensare a qualcosa di personalizzato, carino e possibilmente economico. Uno stress... perché per un anno te la puoi cavare con un contorno-occhi per le occhiaie del collega, uno zerbino nuovo per la vicina e una buona bottiglia di vino rosso per la mezza sconosciuta che ti vuole a tutti i costi in baita, ma l'anno dopo?! E quello dopo ancora?!

Ammetto di essermi rassegnata a "basta il pensiero" e siamo solo a fine Novembre.

Infondo basta davvero qualcosa che ricordi il concetto di Natale e che trasmetta all'altra persona di essere presente nella tua lista. Magari non nei primi posti, ma che c'è ed è già una cosa importante.

Io non vi posso svelare la mia soluzione per quest'anno. Ovviamente. Sarebbe troppo imbarazzante ritrovarmi il giorno della Vigilia con un "Oh... avevo letto sul blog." piuttosto che un "Oh... che carino.", ma vi posso consigliare gli addobbi natalizi realizzati a mano da un'artista e artigiana molto brava. Ogni decoro è unico e ci sono davvero tante forme, misure e colori. Potete passare da Oxtam a Bergamo dove ne potete trovare alcuni, ma se preferite avere un contatto diretto con Isabella per personalizzazioni o grossi quantitativi scrivetemi e vi risponderò al più presto come rintracciarla.

Quest'anno passerò il mese di Dicembre pensando solo a come rendere felici le persone in cima alla mia lista (e questo è quello che rende felice me...)

ENG - I am one of those people who likes to make gifts, but the unexpected kind, maybe without a real reason or circumstance to celebrate. I love to shop gifts, but I like it more to go when I want to.
I have some difficulty with conventional gifts and, please don't misunderstand me, I give a lot of value to Christmas and the meaning that a "present" brings with it, but in recent years I have developed a kind of soft reluctance to Christmas gifts.Because in the list of gifts there are never only the important people, right ?! There are always those three or four people you know and who you "have to" make a gift.The colleague with you take your morning coffee from the machine. The neighbor that when you go on vacation waters your plants. Or the friend's friend married to your cousin who invites you every year to celebrate in the mountains etc ...Every December I find myself thinking about something personalized, cute and possibly cheap. What a stress...  because a year you get on with a side-eye for dark circles of the colleague, a new doormat to the nearby and a good bottle of red wine for the half unknown woman that wants you at all costs in a hut, but the next year?! And the one after?!I resigned with "a thought is enough" and we're only at the end of November.
I just really came into something to remember the concept of Christmas and to broadcast the other person that he's present in my list. Maybe not in the first places, but there is and it's already something great.I can not reveal my solution for this year. Obviously. It would be too embarrassing to find myself on the day of Christmas Eve with a "Oh... I red about this on the blog." rather than an "Oh... that's cute." answer, but I can recommend you some Christmas decorations handmade by an artist and very good craftsmanship. Each decoration is unique and there are so many shapes, sizes and colors. If you want to know about Isabella and her work write me and I'll reply as soon as her contacts.

This year I will spend the month of December thinking about how to make happy only the people at the top of my list (and this is what makes me happy...)

Dall'architettura californiana al veganesimo - From the Californian architecture to veganism

 

 

ITA - La costa occidentale degli Stati Uniti è costellata di gioielli architettonici realizzati durante il corso del secolo passato e uno degli ultimi libri di Phaidon ce lo documenta con abitazioni immerse nel verde, padiglioni con pareti in vetro fino alla storica Salk Institute.

Tutti gli appassionati di architettura sanno che la California è stata (è ancora?!) una sorta di miniera d'oro per l'architettura innovativa e i risultati coesistono tra imponenti sequoie, accanto alle larghe autostrade ed in cima a ripide scogliere.

Queste strutture sono state costruite da artisti del calibro di Charles e Ray Eames, Rudolph Schindler e Frank Lloyd Wright quindi non c'è da meravigliarsi che esse siano tra gli esempi più noti nel mondo. Sono edifici non convenzionali, che hanno voluto dimostrare come il design e la tecnologia talvolta possano superare le avversità della natura, i mali sociali e le sofferenze umane.

 

Io, da questo nuovo libro di Phaidon dal titolo "Mid-Century Modern Architecture Guida" ho voluto fare la mia personale selezione di architetture:

ma il vero nocciolo delle questione è:

oggi, a distanza di molti decenni, questa architettura appartiene all'essere umano del 2016? E viceversa? Insomma... ci siamo mossi nella direzione immaginata da questi grandi architetti?

Io credo che in qualche modo la risposta sia positiva.

Infondo se i "concept" di Frank Lloyd Wright e colleghi si basavano sul rapporto con la natura e su uno stile di vita privo di schermi, ma tra pareti di vetro, io credo che l'obiettivo sia stato raggiunto.

Pensando ai trend mondiali di questi ultimi anni ce ne sono davvero diversi che contemplano il rapporto tra la casa e la natura. La cucina biologica, macrobiotica, vegana, vegetariana, a chilometro zero. -  Le gite fuoriporta presso graziose case in legno sugli alberi, le vacanze di Natale presso igloo dove dormire su letti di ghiaccio etc... - La tecnologia sempre più focalizzata sull'ecosotenibilità e tanto altro. 

Non sembra anche a voi evidente come anche oggi la natura abbia un ruolo prioritario nei luoghi dove scegliamo di abitare?

Inoltre, se probabilmente non siamo ancora al punto di trascorrere le nostre giornate in edifici con pareti completamente vetrate, io credo che la società non sia troppo distante da questo passaggio.

A quale edizione del Grande Fratello siamo giunti?! Quel tipo di esperienza, quel modo di vivere l'intimità di una casa senza censure non si discosta molto dal vivere in un ambiente totalmente vetrato. Negli ultimi anni sono decine e decine gli esperimenti sociali realizzati dove le persone venivano "spiate" in ogni istante del loro quotidiano e io credo che questa sovraesposizione sia qualcosa che ha già minimamente preso piede negli usi e costumi di tutti quanti noi.

ENG - The west coast of the United States is studded with architectural gems made during the course of the past century and one of the last books of Phaidon documents it from houses surrounded by greenery, glass-walled pavilions to the historic Salk Institute.
All architecture's lovers know that California was ( Still?!) something of a goldmine when it came to innovative architecture and the results coexist with majestic redwoods, the broad highways and on the top of steep cliffs.These structures were conceived of by the likes of Charles and Ray Eames, Rudolph Schindler and Frank Lloyd Wright so it's of little wonder they're among the best known examples in the world. Those are not conventional buildings, those went to show how sometimes design and technology can overcome the adversities of nature, social ills and human suffering.

From this new Phaidon book titled "Mid-Century Modern Architecture Guide" I made my own selection of architectures:

but the real matter is:Today, after many decades, do this architecture belongs to the 2016's human beings? and vice versa? Basicaly... Did we moved in the direction envisioned by these great architects?Somehow I believe that the answer is yes.

If the "concept" of Frank Lloyd Wright and colleagues were based on the relationship with nature and on a lifestyle free of screens, but in glass walls, I believe that the goal has been reached.Thinking of the global trends of the recent years there are a lot that came with the relationship between house and nature. Organic food meals, macrobiotic, vegan, vegetarian, zero kilometer. - The city getaways at attractive wooden tree houses, the Christmas holidays at igloo where to sleep on ice beds etc... - The increasingly focus of technology on eco sustainability and more.

Don't you think is evident how even today nature has a leading role in the places where we choose to live?Also, if we are probably not yet at the point of spending our days in buildings with fully glazed walls, I still feel that people is not too far from this step or something similar.Which edition of Big Brother we came?! That kind of experience, that way of living the intimacy of a house without censorship is not very different from living in a totally glassed environment.

In recent years a lot of social experiments were made with people being "spied on" at every moment of their life and I believe that this exposure is something that has already taken place in the lifestyle of all of us in a way or another.

ITA - Hygge è un concetto difficile da spiegare, come l’"amore" che si conosce solo quando lo si sperimenta e forse anche in quell’istante non si sa realmente di cosa si tratta.

Allora potete provare ad immaginare voi e i vostri migliori amici nel salotto di una casa arredata con gusto, del vino rosso in abbondanza, il camino in fiamme, un buon pasto cucinato, l’idea che nessuno debba lavorare l’indomani... Magari anche delle luci fioche e una musica soft che suona. Ecco... La sensazione sicura e accogliente che immaginate è hygge.

"Si tratta di una speciale atmosfera in un momento speciale." "E' dove tutto trova la sua giusta collocazione. Quando la compagnia è giusta, la temperatura è giusta, ci sentiamo confortati, sicuri, accolti e felici." dice Marie Tourell Søderberg, un'attrice danese, ed autrice di "Hygge", uno dei nuovi libri usciti questo autunno sul tema.

 

La parola che viene pronunciata Yoo-gir deriva dal norreno, il linguaggio dei Vichinghi, ed esprime la sensazione di ristoro dopo una lunga giornata fuori al freddo. (Il freddo del nord Europa è sicuramente un elemento che porta alla ricerca dell’Hygge.) E considerando che la politica in Danimarca sostiene molto la sua popolazione questo Stato si colloca regolarmente in cima alla lista dei paesi più felici del mondo. Le persone sono libere dai pensieri più pratici e possono  creare, progettare, considerare il mondo con la più ampia prospettiva. Hanno, in definitiva, tempo da dedicare a loro stessi, ad una vita personale con le persone che amano. Non devono ragionare su come "sopravvivere" tutto il tempo. Hanno una predisposizione all'Hygge.

Ma noi come possiamo sperimentare l’ Hygge? Beh, non pianificando troppo le cose. Possiamo pensare ad una base di organizzazione (ritagliare il tempo libero per incontrare gli amici ad esempio), ma, cercare di forzare un momento di ristoro e divertimento non funziona. Serve la spontaneità e dei buoni suggerimenti sono: il cibo, un elemento aggregante. Non serve strafare, basta un piatto di pasta e lasciare che la serata faccia il suo corso, vedere come si sviluppa.

Accendere alcune candele che favoriscono l’ Hygge. Pensate che i danesi impazziscono per le candele... alcuni le portano persino in vacanza con loro... Ma infondo penso che la sensazione di benessere che nasce nell'entrare in una stanza illuminata da delle candele sia universale, una magia.

E poi rendere accogliente il nostro "nido"... È necessario rendere i nostri spazi personalizzati e intimi. Questo è il segreto.

ENG - Hygge is a hard concept to explain, one like “love” that you know only when you're experiencing it and maybe even then you don’t know really what it’s all about.

So try to picture this: you and your best friends are in your softly furnished living room with plenty of red wine, the fireplace is burning, you’ve cooked a good meal, no-one’s got work tomorrow, the lights are way down low and a soft music is playing. So… That safe and snug feeling you can imagine you’d have in that situation? That’s hygge.

‘It’s a special atmosphere of a special moment.’ ‘It's where everything just falls into place. Where the company is right, where the temperature is right, where we feel comforted, safe, warm and happy.' Says Marie Tourell Søderberg, a Danish actress whose beautiful new book Hygge is one of those several out this autumn on the subject.

The word Hygge (pronounced he-yoo-gir) stems from Old Norse, the language of the Vikings, and it means the feeling of finding shelter after a long day of being outside in the freezing cold. The cold weather of Denmark definitely still plays a factor. As much as Denmark regularly ranks at the top of lists of the happiest countries in the world, because people have the basics covered by the government, and so they are free to create, design, consider the world with wider perspective. They have time to theirselves. Time to have a personal life with the people that they love. It’s not about "surviving" all the time.

So, how to hygge? Don’t plan it too much. Having some sort of organisation is good ( try to find the free time for your friends to hang out) but, trying to force cosy fun?! No. That’s going to ruin it all.

Some good suggestions are: food, that is a big factor when it comes to hygge because it gathers people together. You don’t need to stress over, just made some pasta and let the evening stay open, to see how it would develop.

Than lit some candles that help hygge enormously. Danes are mad about candles, really… some take those on holiday with them... But, anyway, I think that the feeling you get walking into a candelit room it’s something universal, it’s like magic.

And your place… You need to make your place the most cosy, custom and personal area in the world. That’s the secret.

Fai quello che fai perchè non puoi fare a meno di farlo - Do what you do because you can't help but do it

                                  

ITA - Siamo stati cresciuti in una società che definisce le persone in base alla loro occupazione. Da bambini ci hanno chiesto cosa volevamo fare da grandi.

Da adolescenti ci è stato chiesto quale università avremmo scelto, e alla laurea, cosa avevamo in programma per il futuro.

Io sono sempre stata veloce a pensare e a dare le risposte che sembravano adatte.

Ho sempre puntato sulla mia curiosità e sul guadagnarmi da vivere facendo ciò che mi appassionava, ma ben presto mi sono accorta che non avevo un reale piano, non avevo esperienza e le attitudini sul mio profilo LinkedIn non erano accurate.

Qualche anno fa è iniziato così il mio percorso. Deciso sicuramente più dalla vita che da me stessa.

Ho fatto esperienze, conosciuto diverse persone, ed in ogni nuova tappa del percorso mi sono ritrovata a pensare: "che cosa ci faccio qui?!"

Oggi credo che tutto sia servito per rinforzarmi le spalle e per raccontare una storia. Forse sono sempre stata un narratrice. Infondo io vedo la vita in clip e momenti, filtrata dalla luce e dell'ombra. Comunque il messaggio è: "Fai quello che fai, perché non puoi fare a meno di farlo. Fallo, perché lo ami. Non fermarti, e forse questo ti farà guadagnare abbastanza soldi per vivere. Forse non lo farà."

Quando ho accettato questa realtà precaria, con fatica, dopo anni in cui tutto sembrava tempo sprecato per il lavoro di qualcun'altro oppure troppo incerto le cose sono cambiate.

La fame di creare e di sapere sempre più cose mi ha portato a salire di un gradino. Ho presto imparato a non essere intimidita davanti al lavoro degli altri. Ho imparato a non farmi bloccare dal mio perfezionismo. Basta fare il proprio meglio, esporlo, accogliere le critiche e continuare a fare. Ognuno inizia da qualche parte. Da lì si cresce.

Nella vita è necessario fare quello che ci rende felici. Qualsiasi cosa essa sia. Fotografia, cinema, scrivere, disegnare, scolpire - qualsiasi cosa possa ricordare a noi stessi ciò che siamo. Sentire la vita, il dolore, la pace, la rabbia - qualunque cosa. Sentire tutto ciò che è dentro e attorno.

Questo è il mio spirito e questo è quello che cerco nelle persone che collaborano con me in "Expectation by Arianna Mora" e in "Oxtam".

Se anche voi siete così e avete delle proposte da farmi io sono tutta orecchi... o tutta occhi se preferite scrivermi!!!

ENG - We were brought up in a society that defined us by our occupation. As children, we were asked what we wanted to do when we grew up. As teenagers, we were asked what college major we'd choose, and in college, what we planned on doing when we finished. I've always been a quick thinker and good to give the answers that seemed suitable.

I always focused myself on my curiosity and make a living doing what I was passionate about, but soon I realized that I had no real plan, I had no experience and attitudes on my LinkedIn profile were not accurate.

That's how a few years ago my journey began. It was decided definitely more from life than from myself.

I did experience, met different people, and each new stage of the journey I found myself thinking: "What am I doing here ?!"

Today I believe that everything went to make me stronger and to tell a story. Perhaps I've always been a storyteller. Infuse I see life in clips and moments, filtered by light and shadow. However, the message is:

"Do what you do, because you can not help but do it. Do it because you love it. Do not stop, and maybe this will earn you enough money to live. Maybe it will not."

When I accepted this precarious reality, with hard work, after years in which everything seemed wasting time for someone else's work or too uncertain... things have changed. The hunger to create and to know more and more things led me to take a step up. I soon learned not to be intimidated in front of the work of others. I learned not to lock me out of my perfectionism. Just do your best, expose it, accept criticism and keep on making. Everyone starts somewhere. From there starts a growth. In life we need to do what makes us happy. Whatever it may be. Photography, film, writing, drawing, sculpting - anything that can remind ourselves who we are. Feel life, pain, peace, anger - whatever. Feel all that is within and around. This is my spirit and this is what I look for in people who work with me in "Expectation by Arianna Mora" and "Oxtam". If so are you and you have proposals to make me I'd love to hear your voice... or if you prefer to write I'd love to read your ideas!!!

Decoro a muro - Wall decor

ITA - Lo so, lo so... Non è facile immaginare le pareti delle nostre case con questi fantastici lavori artigianali. Siamo troppo abituati a quadri, orologi, posters, specchi... Ma le cose cambiano, le case cambiano e vi assicuro che questi tessuti lavorati a mano da bravissimi artigiani spopolano in tutto il nord Europa. Oxtam ha già convinto una cliente ad arredare il suo ingresso con uno di questi wall-decor, riusciremo a convincere qualcun'altro di voi?! La ragazza che li realizza per noi abita a Berlino, è dolcissima e pronta a mettersi al telaio per voi.

Ma forse anche tra di voi c'è qualcuno che lavora al telaio e allora... fatemelo sapere...

ENG - I know, I know... It's not so easy to imagine the walls of our houses with these fantastic crafted. We are too accustomed to paintings, watches, posters, mirrors... But things change, houses change and I assure you that these hand-woven skilled by great craftsmen are dwelled in all of Northern Europe. Oxtam has already convinced a customer to decorate an entrance with one of these wall-decor, may we convince someone else of you?! The girl that realizes them for us lives in Berlin, she is really lovely and ready to get to frame for you.
